President Obama Accepts the Democratic Nomination
President Obama's acceptance speech sounded more like a State of the Union address than the soaring rhetoric he used to rally the Democratic conventions in 2004 and 2008.
But it was exactly what polls suggest people wanted:
Specific plans and proposals for a second term.
Obama also made a persuasive case that things are better today than they were four years ago.
It's not an easy one to make but he was helped tremendously last night by Bill Clinton and tonight by Joe Biden.
The Obama campaign wanted this election to be a stark choice between two different governing philosophies and not a referendum on the president's tenure.
With this beautifully orchestrated convention -- and with poor strategic decisions and unforced errors by Mitt Romney and the Republicans -- they have succeeded.
Democrats decisively won the battle of the party conventions.
It wasn't even close really.
And they continue to hold the upper hand in this election.
I'm really looking forward to the debates.

Obama Widens Lead in Ohio
A new Public Policy Polling survey in Ohio finds President Obama leads Mitt Romney by five points, 50% to 45%.
Key finding:
"Romney actually leads 46% to 44% with independents but Obama has the overall advantage thanks to a more unified party base.
He leads 86% to 11% with Democrats, compared to Romney's 83% to 13% advantage with Republicans.
Obama's 75 point lead within his own party is up from 70 points a month ago, suggesting that his party has coalesced around him a little bit more in the wake of a successful convention."

Re: USA-presidenziali Novembre 2012

The Next Two Months
Marc Ambinder:
"The election in November may well turn on decisions made long ago.
After Labor Day, there is little campaigns can do to alter the fundamental physics of a race.
The best campaigns simply play defense well.
In a close race, whichever candidate is most adroit at handling the unexpected will probably find himself with an advantage."
